About the Park
Sunset Park is a wonderful place for both kids and adults to play. It features play areas, wide green spaces, and a pleasant perimeter walk lined with delicately scented linden trees. In the summer, the park is filled with the sounds of joyful yells and splashing from the community centre’s popular outdoor pool.

History
The land for this park was acquired through tax sales and named by the South Vancouver municipality prior to the city amalgamation in 1929. In 1945 the Sunset Community Association started an aggressive fundraising campaign to build a community recreation facility. Personal contacts with popular American crooner Bing Crosby enlisted the singer’s assistance through his network radio show and a personal appearance at a sod turning event on September 22, 1948. The community centre, one of the city’s first, was officially opened on September 28, 1950.
