High above English Bay, the views from West Point Grey Park are long and inspiring. Grand trees reach skyward, providing shade for the large playground that is almost always occupied by happy children; ample sports fields appear to go on forever as they stretch out to join the views of English Bay and the North Shore.
History
The land was obtained from the Provincial Government and was named for the district in which it was located, the Municipality of Point Grey (prior to the amalgamation of the City in 1929). The district was named for British Naval Officer, Captain George Grey, friend and colleague of Captain George Vancouver who charted these territories on HMS Discovery in the late 1700s.
